We Need Your Support.

Bay to Bay was founded in 2000 as a Summer Camp to help train the small group of boys volleyball players in San Jose. After some tremendous feedback and a whole lot of pleading, the parents of those players helped convince the coaches of the Summer camp to transform Bay to Bay into a club. Bay to Bay, the club, started with two teams and slowly grew year after year. The goal of the club has remained consistent throughout the course of the past two decades: help develop quality young men through the sport of volleyball.

Now in present day, Bay to Bay runs year round programming for indoor volleyball, beach volleyball, and strength & conditioning that serves over 300+ athletes every year. In an effort to bring volleyball to our underserved communities we host free volleyball clinics at local grade schools. Many times, these events serve as the first introduction to the sport for many young men. For a family that does not have much financial flexibility, club sports are not usually in the cards. In turn, we aim democratize club sports by providing financial assistance to families who would not normally be able to afford Bay to Bay. Annually, our club has donated over $15,000 each year.

Now, we are doubling down our outreach and philanthropic efforts to support even more young men who need the structure, support, and fun that comes with being a part of Bay to Bay. In order to do so, we need your help! No donation is too small, every dollar counts. Join our dedicated community of supporters with a one-time or monthly donations to our Need-Based Scholarship Fund.

By becoming a monthly supporter, you will be helping a young man become a part of the Bay to Bay Volleyball community. The benefits of playing youth sports are immense:

Organized sports activity helps children develop and improve cognitive skills, according to a study that tracked kids from kindergarten through fourth grade (Piche, 2014). Physical activity in general is associated with improved academic achievement, including grades and standardized test scores. Further, such activity can affect attitudes and academic behavior, including enhanced concentration, attention, and improved classroom behavior.

High school athletes are more likely than non-athletes to attend college and get degrees, and team captains and most valuable players achieve in school at even higher rates (U.S. Dept. of Education, 2005).

Physical activity, and sports in particular, can positively affect aspects of personal development among young people, such as self-esteem, goal-setting, and leadership. However, evidence indicates that the quality of coaching is a key factor in maximizing positive effects (GAO, 2012).

Sports participation is a significant predictor of young adults' participation in sports and physical fitness activities. Adolescents who play sports are eight times as likely to be active at age 24 as adolescents who do not play sports (Sports Participation as Predictors of Participation in Sports and Physical Fitness Activities in Young Adulthood, Perkins, 2004).

Not every family can afford club sports. We do our best to provide as much access and opportunity to succeed as possible, but without the help of our incredible community of active patrons we are not able to assist everyone who is in need.

Our scholarship fund is entirely need-based. Meaning that young men are receiving aid not from their skills on the court, because of the need in their home. Year in and year out, the athletes who have been awarded financial aid have been some of the biggest contributors to our club in terms of culture, attitude, and perseverance.

The experience of being a part of team is unlike any other. It teaches more life lessons in the course of one season than most kids will learn in a lifetime of classes.
